As a significant public relations strategy, SLDI possesses a unique opportunity to spearhead the development of a unique and much-needed organization with potential to generate substantial goodwill and brand-building on a global scale. SLDI’s founders have successfully initiated a non-profit organization TEAM Dubuque. TEAM is an acronym for Training, Events, Activities and Management, relating to community sports and recreation activities.

A fitting analogy is that each TEAM Community organization is to sports and recreation organizations what an area Chamber of Commerce is to business organizations. Each TEAM Community organization is a promoter, educator, marketer, and indispensable resource for the various youth and adult sports and recreation organizations – which tend to be ineffective, under-funded and relatively disorganized in those critical areas. The TEAM Community organizations will be unique and valuable by specifically promoting the broadly valued ethics of community, family, health and wellness.

Further, through its efforts, each TEAM Community organization will offer grants and scholarships to underprivileged children. Each Grant and Scholarship Fund will enable children from low-income families to receive the assistance needed to participate in the great opportunities available throughout the community. Additionally, each fund will provide scholarships to those area students who have contributed to the community, but may not otherwise “qualify” for athletic scholarship funding from their college of choice.

These organizations will be initiated in various communities throughout the country, each as a financially self-sufficient, non-profit subsidiary of SLDI. SLDI has the opportunity to provide a variety of communications services to each of the TEAM Community projects, and SLDI members are able to leverage the significant goodwill contributions within their communities that SLDI and the TEAM Community organizations make on their behalf.
